The Loadout Manager allows you to save your current equipment configuration and apply it to yourself or your recruits later. This system streamlines the process of equipping multiple units with standardized gear.
The Loadout Manager is accessed through Equipment Boxes:
- Find or place an Equipment Box at your home, base or FOB
- Interact with the Equipment Box
- Look for loadout options in the action menu
The Equipment Box is a placeable, costing 80 before the difficulty's placeable multiplier is applied. Placing one at a home, camp, base or FOB is the usual way to get access to loadouts, and it can be locked and unlocked from the same action menu.
A Recruitment Tent opens the same list in a purchase mode, for buying a recruit that arrives already wearing one of your loadouts. That path spawns and charges for the gear instead of drawing it from a box. See Buying a Recruit Already Wearing It.
- Equip yourself with the desired weapons, armor, and gear
- Approach an Equipment Box
- Select "Save Loadout"
- Enter a name for your loadout
- Your complete equipment configuration is saved
- By using the same name as an existing loadout it will be overwritten
- Primary weapon and attachments
- Secondary weapon
- Sidearm
- Armor and clothing
- Backpack and contents
- Medical supplies
- Ammunition
- All other equipped items
Fixed in v1.4: two long-standing gaps in the above. Holstered pistols and slung weapons were never actually captured when saving, so a second weapon silently vanished from every loadout. And applying a loadout destroyed everything stored inside uniforms, vests and backpacks, leaving you with empty containers. Both now work as described.
- Access the loadout menu from any Equipment Box by choosing "Load Loadout"
- The list shows the loadouts saved under your own name
- View loadout details and equipment lists
- Select the loadout and choose the delete option
- Deletion is immediate; there is no confirmation step
- Approach an Equipment Box
- Select "Load Loadout"
- Select from your saved loadouts
- Click "Apply to Self"
- Have your recruits standing close to you, within about 5 metres
- Access the Equipment Box
- Select "Load Loadout"
- Select the loadout to apply
- Click "Apply to Nearby Recruits"
The nearby check measures from you, not from the box, and it only picks up recruits you own. Another player's recruits standing in the same spot are not included.
Away from an Equipment Box, a Swap Gear held action on a recruit that is following you exchanges your entire kit with theirs. It moves the real items rather than copying them, uses no saved loadout, and needs no box. See Recruits for the details.
At a Recruitment Tent, the held action Buy Equipped Recruit opens this same loadout list with a price beside your selection, and hires a recruit that arrives wearing the whole thing. The save, apply and delete buttons are hidden there; the only thing that screen does is quote and buy.
This is the one place a loadout is paid for rather than drawn from a box. The quote is worked out on the server as:
- what the loadout's items would cost at a shop near the tent, contents of containers and weapon attachments included,
- plus a convenience fee multiplier the server's difficulty settings carry,
- plus the ordinary tent recruit cost.
The purchase also takes a supporter from the nearest town and a slot against your 16-recruit cap, like any other tent recruit. A loadout holding an item the shops do not stock cannot be priced and is refused by name. Only your own loadouts can be bought this way. Full rules are on the Recruits page.
- Items must be available in the Equipment Box
- If items are missing, the loadout will be partially applied
- You can split up your equipment boxes in a way that if you only want to apply the weapon from a loadout, only put weapons in the box
Note for v1.4: this rule is now enforced for your equipped weapon too. Previously, applying a loadout spawned the equipped weapon and its attachments out of thin air rather than taking them from the box, an unlimited free weapon source in ordinary play. Everything now comes out of the box or is not applied.
The tent purchase above is the deliberate exception: there the gear really is spawned, because you paid for every item of it at shop prices plus a fee.
Officers have an extra action on the Equipment Box, "Save Officer Loadout", which is hidden for everybody else. It saves the loadout marked as a resistance template.
Known limitation: the template mark is saved and replicated, but the Equipment Box list only shows loadouts saved under your own name. A template saved by one officer does not currently appear for other players, so in the shipped game officer templates behave like a personal loadout with an extra flag on it. This is recorded as an open question for the developers rather than a documented feature.

-
Budget Loadouts
- Low-cost versions suit new recruits
- Essentials only: weapon, ammo, basic medical
- A cheap loadout is also a cheap equipped recruit, since the tent prices the kit item by item
- Stock Properly: A loadout can only draw what the box holds
- Organize by Type: Group similar items together
- Multiple Boxes: Different boxes suit different loadout types
- Regular Resupply: Boxes empty as loadouts are applied
- Loadouts are saved on the server only (or locally in Single Player)
- Loadouts persist between game sessions
- Loadout data is stored separately from equipment
- Personal loadouts are private to each player
- Equipment Box contents are shared among all players who can open the box
- Applying a loadout draws real items out of the box, so a shared box depletes
- At a tent, the price and the charge are both worked out on the server, and naming someone else's loadout finds nothing
- The Equipment Box lacks required items
- Solution: Add more equipment to the box
- No recruits of yours are within about 5 metres of you
- Solution: Bring your recruits closer before opening the box
- Some items were available, others weren't
- Check what's missing and resupply
- One of its items is not something the shops carry, so it cannot be priced and the purchase is refused by name
- Solution: save a version of the loadout without that item, or hand that item over separately
- Name Clearly: Use descriptive loadout names
- Update Regularly: Refresh loadouts as you find better gear
- Test First: Apply to yourself before equipping recruits
- Keep Spares: Maintain extra equipment for multiple applications
