⚠️ SAVE COMPATIBILITY: BREAKING. Overthrow's save system has been rebuilt from scratch on top of Arma Reforger's own persistence system. Existing saves will not load, and there is no converter.
Back up your save first. If you are not ready to start fresh, pin
1.3.34in yourconfig.jsonand update when you are.
Overthrow no longer uses the Enfusion Persistence Framework. Saving and loading now run on Arma Reforger's own persistence system, which the game itself maintains.
What this means in practice:
Save files also live in a new location, following the game's own layout rather than Overthrow's.
You can now squad up with other players. See the Player Groups page for the full rules.
In short:
This also fixes the long-standing dedicated-server problem where players had no faction and no group at all: AI commanding refused to open, the Group menu was empty, and recruits stayed in their original civilian group. (GitHub issue #147.)
Shops now have category tabs, and Buy and Sell are separate modes. Sell mode browses your own inventory instead of leaving you to guess what a shop will take, and greys out items it won't buy along with the reason why.
Also new:
Propaganda posters and a pirate radio transmitter can be placed to build support in a town, with new jobs that put them to use.
Around 85 bugs were fixed in this release. The full list is in #reforger-patch-notes on Discord. The headline areas:
Multiplayer and dedicated servers. Faction and group assignment, officer promotion, recruit renaming, remove mode for placed items, loadouts and vehicles surviving a server restart, difficulty settings actually reaching clients, warehouse contents arriving intact for joining players, and the tutorial job chain reaching every player rather than only the first.
Exploits. A large sweep of actions the server used to simply trust the client on are now validated and charged server-side — selling, real estate, base capture, skills, imports, supporter conversion, loadouts, garrisons, building, recruiting and vehicle locks. An equipment-box weapon duplication bug that was reachable in completely normal play is also fixed.
Economy. Town shops and gun dealers now restock. Shop catalogues no longer hide items past the first page. Rent processing no longer stops for the night when it reaches a resistance-owned property.
Towns. Permanent town modifiers are no longer wiped when an unrelated modifier expires. Patrol harassment and growing discontent now affect every town rather than only one. Towns start with problems again, as intended. Support can no longer exceed a town's population.
Occupying faction. Resources are spread across bases instead of pooling into one. QRFs cost resources. Deployments are cleaned up, so long campaigns no longer quietly stop spawning AI. QRFs arrive from the map-authored directions instead of one clump.
Performance. With the map open, every dealer, shop and port was being re-validated every single frame.
